The origami bird base consists of an origami square base, with the front and rear folded into a petal shape.
As the name implies, it’s the base for popular traditional origami bird models.
The origami square base is the foundation for the origami bird base and origami frog base.
How To Make An Origami Bird Base
MATERIAL:
1 Origami paper 6 x 6 inches (15 x 15 cm)
INSTRUCTIONS:
The origami bird base requires the following origami fold and base:
Fold: Origami valley-fold
Base: Origami square base
| Note: Steps 1 to 4 are instructions for the origami square base. |
Step 1: Take an origami paper, make valley-fold diagonally and unfold.
Step 2: Turn over the paper.
Step 3: Valley-fold in half edge to edge and unfold.
Step 4: Collapse along the crease and flatten, to form origami square base.
Step 5: Valley-fold the lower left and right edge to meet the center crease.
Step 6: Valley-fold the top corner down as far as the previous folds allow and crease.
Step 7: Unfold the folds done in Steps 5 & 6.
Step 8: Lift the bottom corner of the flap upwards.
Step 9: Flatten the flap along the creases made in Steps 5 & 6 such that its edges meet each other at the center.
Step 10: Turn over the paper.
Step 11: Repeat Steps 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9 to form an origami bird base.
