
The origami frog base starts with an origami square base. Then, the 4 flaps are squash folded and then petal folded.
The origami square base is the foundation for the origami frog base and origami bird base.
As the name implies, it is the foundation for the most famous traditional origami frog model.
This base is the most time-consuming as it has the greatest number of folds.
How To Make An Origami Frog Base
MATERIAL:
1 Origami paper 6 x 6 inches (15 x 15 cm)
INSTRUCTIONS:
The origami frog base requires the following origami fold and base:
Fold: Origami valley-fold
Base: Origami square base
Note: Steps 1-6 are the instructions for the origami square base. |
Step 1: Take an origami paper and make valley-folds diagonally and unfold.

Step 2: Turn over the paper.

Step 3: Valley-fold in half edge to edge and unfold.

Step 4: Collapse along the crease.

Step 5: Flatten the paper, to form an origami square base.

Step 6: Valley-fold the top right edge to meet the center crease.

Step 7: Unfold the fold done in Step 6.

Step 8: Lift the top right flap 90º.

Step 9: Open the flap.

Step 10: Flatten the flap along the crease made in Step 6.

Step 11: Repeat Steps 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10 for the other 3 flaps.

Step 12: Valley-fold the bottom-left and right edges to meet the center crease.

Step 13: Unfold the folds made in Step 12.

Step 14: Lift the flaps upwards.

Step 15: Flatten the flap, along the crease made in Step 12.

Step 16: Repeat Steps 12 to 15 for the other 3 flaps to form an origami frog base.
