
The origami square base is also known as the origami preliminary fold.
The square base consists of
» Two diagonal mountain-fold and
» Two perpendicular valley-fold that intersect at the center.
The paper is then collapsed along the creases to form a square shape with 4 flaps.
The origami square base is the foundation for two other bases namely the origami bird base and origami frog base. Hence, called the preliminary fold.
If the folds in the origami square or preliminary fold are reversed then, an origami waterbomb base is formed.
How To Make An Origami Square Base
MATERIAL:
1 Origami paper 6 x 6 inches (15 x 15 cm)
INSTRUCTIONS:
The origami square base requires the following origami folds:
Folds: Origami valley-fold, Origami mountain-fold
Step 1: Take an origami paper with the colored side of the paper up.

Step 2: Position the paper.

Step 3: Valley-fold the left corner to meet the right corner.

Step 4: Unfold the fold done in Step 3.

Step 5: Valley-fold the top corner to meet the bottom corner.

Step 6: Unfold the fold done in Step 5.

Step 7: Turn over the paper.

Step 8: Valley-fold the top-right edge to meet the bottom-left edge.

Step 9: Unfold the fold done in Step 8.

Step 10: Valley-fold the top-left edge to meet the bottom-right edge.

Step 11: Unfold the fold done in Step 10.

Step 12: Bring the left and right corners towards each other.

Step 13: Bring the top corner to the bottom. And make it collapse along the crease, to form an origami square or preliminary fold.
